Weekly Death Reflection Guide (Extended Version)

A 4-week journey toward peace, acceptance, and spiritual readiness. This extended guide provides deeper reflections, readings, and journaling prompts.

WEEK 1  – Awareness of Mortality

Daily Reflection:

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12).

Pause each morning or evening to reflect:

If this were my last week, what matters most today?

Journaling Prompts: - What would I regret if death came next month?

- Which relationships or conversations are unfinished? - What small joy would I still want to experience this week?

Scripture Readings:

Psalm 39, James 4:13–15 – Life is fleeting; we are but a mist.

Prayer Prompt:

“Lord, help me live aware of my finitude, not in fear, but in wisdom and gratitude.”

WEEK 2  – Letting Go and Detaching

Daily Reflection:

Notice what you cling to—possessions, recognition, control.

Each day, practice loosening your grip.

Journaling Prompts:

- Whom do I still need to forgive

—or ask forgiveness from?

 - What possessions or achievements do I cling to as if they define me?

- What could I let go of today that would bring more peace?

Scripture Readings:

Ecclesiastes 7:2, Matthew 6:19–21 – Store up treasures in heaven, not on earth.

Prayer Prompt: “Lord, teach me to hold all things loosely except You.”

WEEK 3 – Facing Death Calmly

Daily Reflection: Take 5 minutes of silence.

Imagine yourself near death—not in fear, but in peace.

What matters? What fades away? What words or truths would comfort you?

Journaling Prompts: - If I knew no one would remember me, would I still live this way?

- What do I hope others receive from my life and presence?

- What comforts me most in imagining my own death?

Scripture Readings:

Luke 12:16–21 (The rich fool), Philippians 1:20–23 – “To live is Christ, to die is gain.” Prayer Prompt: “I came with nothing. I leave with nothing.

What I gave and loved—those things live on in You, Lord.”

WEEK 4  – Living Before God Alone

Daily Reflection: Each day, practice quiet solitude in God’s presence.

Remember that before Him, you are not a role, a title, or an achievement

—you are His child.

Journaling Prompts: - What clutters my heart today that I could release?

- If I stand before God tonight, what would I want to say?

- What brings me the deepest peace about belonging to Christ?

Scripture Readings:

Psalm 23, John 11:25–26 – “I am the resurrection and the life.”

 Prayer Prompt:

“Lord, make me ready—not to escape death, but to walk with You through it.”
